Class History
JS 2010
In 1947 the children who began first grade in Ridley Township were destined to become the graduating class of 1959. They attended the district's five elementary schools, grades 1 -6: Amosland, Folsom, Leedom, Leiperville, and Woodlyn. In 1953, this group entered grade 7
at the Ridley Township Junior-Senior High School. Half-day sessions alleviated overcrowding. Seventh graders attended school from 11:20 am to 3:40 pm. In January of their 8th grade year, the class of 1959 paraded down Morton Avenue to the brand new Ridley Township Junior
High School, housing grades 7 and 8.
Ninth grade meant returning to the newly-named Ridley Township Senior High School, where, as freshmen, the class became organized by faculty sponsors: Robert Aiken, Stella Economos, Jane Kauffman, Marilyn Nuss, and Peter Yacyk. Class officers elected were: Delbert Delozier,
president; Clifton Wagner, vice-president; Mary Ann Torchick, secretary; Barbara MacDonald, treasurer.
Highlights of the year were magazine sales; a class party; an assembly, “Homely's Odatsy”, which spoofed the 9th grade literature requirements, and a Freshman Hop in March.Marilyn Nuss changed schools, but wasn't replaced as a class sponsor. Class officers elected for the sophomore year were: David Lake, president; Robert Evans, vice-president; Beverly Trosley, secretary; Barbara MacDonald, treasurer. The sophomore class party was an old-fashioned square dance. Class
funds were raised through the sale of Christmas cards, and the class assembly theme was the toy department of a large store at Christmas. “Springtime in Heaven” was the appropriate theme for the Sophomore Hop. Thespians of the class performed 3 one-act plays for the
community.
Junior class officers elected were: David Lake, president; William Evonsky, vice-president; Beverly Trosley, secretary; Patricia Armstrong, treasurer. Fund drives were paramount with another sale of
Christmas cards, plus after school candy sales. The class party was a Halloween masquerade, but the highlight of the autumn was wearing new class rings and having classmates turn them 59 times. The class assembly was a football season/ Harvest Ball/ boy meets girl theme. The junior play was a murder mystery, “The Thirteenth Chair”. The junior prom was an “Oriental Fantasy”, with prom queen, Mary Ann Torchick, reigning.
Elected as the senior class and lifetime officers were: DonaldSellers, president; Delbert Delozier, vice-president; Beverly Trosley, secretary; Barbara MacDonald, treasurer. Student Council
leaders elected by the entire school were: David Lake, president; William Evonsky, vice-president; Patricia Armstrong, treasurer.Autumn was spent selling Christmas candles, sitting for senior portraits, and voting for fourteen class representatives: JoAnnBecker, Delbert Delozier, John Dunn, William Evonsky, Fritz Henn, Vince Jordan, Anna Kirifides, David Lake, Barbara MacDonald, Ann Moss, Richard Ortolano, Carl Payne, Donald Sellers, Beverly Trosley. The senior assembly theme was a typical teen day at Tony's Pizzeria. Instead of a senior play, the class opted to present the first Ridley
student Variety Show, which featured the multiple talents of the senior students.
The final months of high school featured major events. The class, with sponsors and parent chaperones, spent three days and two nights in April sight-seeing the highlights of Washington, D.C. An evening of dinner and dancing at the senior prom, “Colonial Enchantment”, on May 8 was held at the Benjamin Franklin Hotel in Philadelphia, with Barbara Dalson as prom chairman, and Patricia Armstrong as senior prom queen. Breakfast was at 1 am in the Garden Terrace of the hotel. Final exams were taken, the class poll was voted upon, and the Class Night dinner was held on May 30. After dinner, the twenty-fifth edition of the Archive was presented to the School Board by Ann Moss,
editor-in-chief. A baccalaureate service was held on May 31 in the auditorium of the Ridley Township Junior High School. At the same site, the graduation ceremony was June 2, when Ann Moss presented the valedictory address and Harry Dunn the salutatory address.
Reunions have been held at 2, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 and now soon-to-be 50!

History of BNHS
HISTORY OF BAMBAD HIGH SCHOOL
About 5 kilometers away Northeast of Poblacion of Isulan lies the fast developing barangay of Bambad. With its fast growing population, graduates of Bambad Elementary School and other neighboring elementary schools found big problems pursuing their secondary education due to economic constraints. Having felt the dire need for high school in the community, the people, through the initiative then of the PTA Officials, President Datu Ali Mama and Vice- President Mr. Florencio Buendicho Sr. initiated a joint-PTA Barangay Council resolution properly endorsed by then Officer-in-Charge Barangay Captain Reynalddo Bito-onon to the Municipal Council of Isulan. The said resolution was favorably acted and likewise endorsed the same to the late Schools Division Superintendent San Andres, until finally approved and granted permit to operate by the proper authority.
In June, 1967, Bambad High School officially opened with an enrolment of forty seven (47) first year students , equivalent to one section only. The class was attended by the first full-time teacher Mr. Leonardo Lotilla, under the umbrella of the elementary whose principal then was Mrs. Buenvenida O. Buendicho.
As enrolment continued to grow, two more full-time teachers, Mr. Jose L. Barrios and Mrs. Erlinda Banusing were added to the teaching force in 1968-69. Obviously, due to the concerted efforts of the parents and barangay officials, Bambad High school in its third year of operation in 1969-70 completed the enrolment up to fourth year that gave way to the coming in of another four teachers: Mr. Bernardito C. Bucani, Mrs. Marietta C. Bucani, Ms. Edith Etrata and Ms. Lerma Brasales. The fast growing size as well as the management necessitated the assumption of a qualified high school head and Mr Bernardito C. Bucani was designated Teacher-In-Charge. During his time, more teachers came in: Mrs. Nelly D. Magbanua in 1969, Mr. Alberto P. Loyola in 1978, Mrs. Rosalia E. Estrellan Mrs. Nena B. Hubiera , Ms. Alma Palma and Mr. Antonio E. Magbanua , Jr. in 1982. He became full-pledged Head Teacher in 1986 until he passed away serving the high school for a total of nine (9) years.
Eventually, Mr. Jose L. Barrios took over. Being the head, he felt the pressing need of permanent site to settle the high school. He presented the problem to the PTA Officials of both the elementary and the high school as well as the barangay council. Kagawad Cornelio C. Estrellan and Kagawad Nestor F.Araula, PTA presidents, encouraged Barangay Chairman Bernardo Elauria Sr. to convince Mrs. Buenvenida . O. Buendicho to donate a parcel of 1.02 ha. f rom the elementary site. By virtue of Resolution No. 63 ISB to read; “A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING AND CONVEYING BY Way OF DONATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION, CULTURE AND SPORTS A PARCEL OF LAND AT ABOUT 10,200 sq. m. LOCATED AT BARANGAY BAMBAD PURPOSELY TO BE UTILIZED AS SCHOOL SITE FOR BAMBAD HIGH SCHOOL THROUGH THE MUNICIPAL MAYOR LONEY C. PUBLICO”.
Mr. Jose L. Barrios, after serving DECS for sixteen (16) years on May, 1991 vacated the post due to retirement. The school was administered by Mrs. Rosalia E. Estrellan as Officer-In-Charge until she was assigned to Salabaca High School for two years. Mr. Eduardo V. Europa assumed the administration and supervision in his capacity as principal I until he was transferred toTacurong Legislated High School giving way for Mrs. Rosalia E. Estrellan to return to her home place as incumbent Head Teacher III. The school noticeably increases in population yearly which calls for additional teachers and classrooms and other facilities needed for the smooth operation of the system.
Today, this institution stands for ____years of existence continuously fulfilling its mission to provide quality basic education to the less fortunate school age students..
Guided by the mission, vision of this institution, Bambad High School shall help provide to the Filipino youth the opportunity to benefit from high quality education and training within the context of Maka-Diyos, Makabayan, Makatao at Makakalikasan for them to contribute to, as well as to benefit from national, Regional and positive Global Development.
This school shall continue to flourish and envision further to turn out graduates imbued with values and attitudes distinct of true Filipino, also equipped with world-class skills capabilities that contribute to building a cohesive peaceful and progressive society.
